What We Need:

We are searching for an outstanding reporter to cover events and assist our organizations in delivering important news-related content to the public. Candidate will cover California news and beyond for 24/7 News, iHeart Media and NBC News Radio.

To ensure success as a reporter, you should be knowledgeable about current events, proficient at research, embody ethical principles, and maintain professionalism at all times.

What You'll Do:

You will be required to report on news in California and beyond and write copyfor national wire service. You will also be required to adhere to the following:

  • Identifying newsworthy events and developments in the region.

  • Conducting research and writing scripts on topics prior to broadcasts.

  • Interviewing eye-witnesses, authorities, and people of interest in news stories.

  • Transcribing and summarizing events for further news purposes.

  • Working collaboratively with other members of our reporting team.

  • Ensuring a professional appearance, language use, and manner throughout reports.

What You'll Need:

We are looking for the candidate who has the following:

  • A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a specialized field such as politics, economics, or international relations.

  • At least 2 years of experience in news, television, or journalism.

  • Ethical and professional research and reporting skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Able to form and ask probing questions to interviewees.

  • Passionate about the news and current events.

  • Well-spoken, engaging, and knowledgeable about news events.

  • Critically-minded, meticulous, and excellent recall of facts.

  • Adventurous, calm under pressure, and determined to uncover the truth.

  • Great interpersonal and rapport-building skills.

  • Ability to work within prescribed guidelines without needing close supervision

  • Problem solving skills within established procedures

  • Understanding of when to seek guidance for unforeseen problems

Compensation:

Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data.

$15.50 - $19.80
