iHeartMedia has an opening for an AM Chief Engineer in the Boston MA market.
Candidates must have a strong background in radio broadcast operations with an emphasis on high power AM directional antenna systems and transmitters.
As a member of the engineering team, you would participate in maintaining high power AM/FM transmitters, components, and sites with lead role responsibility for AM facilities.
Maintain and uphold RF site compliance requirements, maintenance and upkeep of company-owned facilities, buildings, and transmitters.
Support broadcast, studio and digital equipment to ensure optimum transmission and/or performances by responding to equipment outages, malfunctions, and related technical issues.
Address electromechanical equipment such as switchers, consoles, transmitters, transceivers, and radio/voice modems.
Conduct diagnostic testing, repair and replacement activities and decide test equipment, parts, and related tools needed for use in maintenance and repair.
Provide information technology solutions and services in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of cost-effective infrastructure.
Document system integration, create signal flow diagrams, wire mapping, and operational procedures.
Consult and communicate with engineering management regarding technical issues as required.
Reports to the VP/Engineering for Boston
10 years minimum experience maintaining high power AM broadcast directional antenna systems and transmitters.
Technical management and maintenance of a multi-station cluster and assuring FCC legal compliance in all aspects of the operation. This is a service oriented position.
Excellent written and oral communications and organizational skills
Ability to work independently, occasional night and weekend work is expected
Must be on-call and available to respond 24/7
Ability to climb ladders, work in small spaces and ability to lift 50 pounds.
Familiarity with NexGen or other audio playout systems and editors, high and low power RF transmission systems and transmitter maintenance, Microsoft operating systems, audio mixing consoles, power generators and UPS systems, satellite systems, and tower management.
2 years technical school or military training in electronics or equivalent experience. SBE certification or FCC General Class license is preferred.
A Valid state driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
